THE CHALLENGE
Modernizing the company’s systems
DHL already had several systems for the areas of import, export, customs, finance, and internal communication. That software was responsible for processing and facilitating operation of the whole company.
However, because they were dated, they did not have good usability or an interesting graphical interface, and some were only available on premises. Such features did not meet global standards and made the daily lives of DHL employees difficult.
Therefore, the main challenge was to modernize the company’s systems.
THE SOLUTION
UDS worked on the development of customized software
In order to modernize the company’s systems, UDS developed customized software with cloud and high-scalability architecture.
Our multidisciplinary squad identified the refactoring and modernization of legacy systems as necessary, as well as the development of new platforms for multiple areas within the global logistics giant.
We developed a new systemic operation for DHL with modern software architecture which is cloud native, modular, and easy to maintain.
We developed new applications in VueJS and also a robust and responsive web based administration platform (back office).
We mapped a large number of interdepartmental processes (through BPMN, among others) in order to ensure complete understanding of the employee journey, to base User Experience (UX), and to inform business decisions during development.
We created an intuitive UX by using the profound knowledge gained about the employee journey.
As the systems developed are the daily work and communication tools of DHL professionals, “having a new system that is easier to use” was a premise to increase adoption of the new platforms.
We customized system interfaces to ensure maximum usage efficiency according to each role and department. The platforms reflect exactly what is part of each professional’s scope of action.
Additionally, we provided training materials for employees and technical handovers leading up to the IT team.
THE RESULT
Modernization of important company systems
Scalable architecture
New, robust, and responsive web based administration platform (back office)
An increase in employees adopting new platforms
