Calvin Klein is one of the leading global fashion brands. Managed by PVH, which is responsible for Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, Izod and others, it has earned more than 9 billion dollars in revenue and has 36 thousand employees.
In Brazil, the brand is present in more than a thousand cities through 3300 multi-brand stores, 42 proprietary stores, and 58 licensed stores.
Relevant information was not available to salespeople
Calvin Klein brings a mix of minimalism and sophistication to its clothes. With that formula, it is one of the most well-known fashion brands on the planet.
However, within the company, it was understood that the consumer experience in stores was not in line with the excellence and standard desired by the brand.
There was a lack of business intelligence and structured data.
The information existed within the company’s files, but was not available to its salespeople ; the goal was to organize and present it in a way that could generate insights.
The store salesperson’s routine was not focused on the end customer. They needed to improve efficiency, culture, customer experience, and service intelligence related to selling and purchasing at CK stores.
To provide more commercial intelligence to the sales team and, at the same time, to generate a better consumer experience for customers, UDS developed a customized application for Calvin Klein.
The specific demand that started the relationship between UDS and Calvin Klein was the development of an app for the company’s sales team.
To make the platform available online, data science work was carried out involving normalization and consolidation of data from different sources. That way, the information became more organized within the company and also available for handling by this application.
Thus, the app would bring valuable insights to salespeople in order to provide excellence and customized service as planned when the project was conceived.
Taking into account the profile of users (sales team) and good market solutions, we worked on interface design that allows easy and quick interaction.
Before the software development stage, we employed a design sprint bringing together a UDS squad and a squad from multiple areas at Calvin Klein.
After the entire design sprint flow, we moved on to building the software. The alternative was the development of web software integrated into the application in a modular solution connected to the brand’s other systems.
Programming Languages used: Kotlin (android), C#, NetCore, AngularJs and Oracle DB.
Ensuring that commercial teams at stores would adopt a new tool that would change the way they work was another important obstacle to overcome in the project.
With all those points covered, CK’s sales force made several gains:
The new strategic application has become the right hand for salespeople in the brand’s national and international stores.
The tool allows you to provide customized services with economies of scale as it delivers relevant information to the salesperson at the right time: it’s more intelligence at the hands of the CK team.
“It was a joint creation, there was nothing ready-made that we brought in from the market. It was something that we built with the brand’s face, with our identity, with our DNA ; that was fundamental to the success of the project. Therefore, UDS was the perfect choice.”
